More than 50 French higher education institutions are set to take part in the 2026 Choose France Tour, as France strengthens its efforts to attract Indian students
France is stepping up its higher education outreach in India, with more than 50 French universities and higher education institutions taking part in the 2026 Choose France Tour. The four-city tour, organised by Campus France with the support of the French Embassy in India, is scheduled to visit Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Bengaluru from 11 to 17 October 2026.
The initiative comes as France continues to expand its higher education links with India. Campus France has reported that around 10,000 Indian students are currently studying in France, while the two countries have set a longer-term objective of reaching 30,000 Indian students by 2030. That target was established under the India-France roadmap and has been reaffirmed more recently.
The 2026 tour will allow prospective students and parents to explore programmes and meet representatives from participating French institutions. The range includes areas such as engineering, management, science, hospitality, design, architecture and the humanities, alongside information on scholarships, visas and student life.
What this means for Indian students
France is becoming a more visible option for Indian students looking beyond the traditional English-speaking study destinations. The country's growing engagement with India also includes initiatives such as Classes Internationales, which are designed to help Indian students prepare for study in the French higher education system.
For students in Kerala, this expanding range of pathways makes it worthwhile to look beyond the usual study destinations and compare France on factors such as programme, tuition costs, language requirements and career opportunities.
IRS Study Abroad is an active advocate of study opportunities in France, helping students from Kerala explore French universities and understand the different routes available for higher education in the country.
