MEA Encourages Indian Students Abroad to Register with Indian Missions

Government advisory highlights the importance of student safety and emergency support overseas

India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is encouraging Indian students studying overseas to voluntarily register with Indian embassies and high commissions through its official Students Registration Portal. The initiative aims to improve communication, grievance support, and emergency assistance for Indian students abroad.

With more than a million Indian students pursuing higher education internationally, the registration system helps Indian missions stay connected with students in situations such as political unrest, natural disasters, travel disruptions, or evacuations.

The advisory is especially relevant for students preparing to study abroad from Kerala, as proper registration can help students receive official updates, embassy advisories, and quicker support when required.

At IRS Study Abroad, Kottayam, we guide students not only through university admissions and visa procedures, but also through important pre-departure steps that help students stay informed, prepared, and connected while living overseas.
